Women's Hormone Health | Naturopathic Medicine Timmins
Dr. Christine Fortier ND

Don’t settle for feeling fine, when you could be feeling fantastic.

Through my signature methodology which emphasizes a holistic, natural approach, I will help you reach and maintain your personal health and wellness goals, whether you’re looking to boost your energy levels, feel less stressed out and overwhelmed, have less painful periods, fit back into your old jeans, or finally start training for that half-marathon (as a half-marathoner myself, I can definitely give you some tips!).

Along the way, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the amazing self-healing nature of your own body, finally get a clear picture of your overall health, and learn how to make the small lifestyle changes that will have BIG benefits for your long-term health.

In-person appointments take place in my boutique clinic at 136 3rd Avenue, conveniently nestled in the heart of downtown Timmins with plenty of parking nearby. My virtual appointments are held on my secure, private, and easy-to-use patient portal. If video conferencing isn’t your thing, I’m happy to meet with you over the phone.

My Services

In order to thoroughly address all aspects of your health story, my approach will include all or most of the following:

Clinical Nutrition | Naturopathic Medicine Timmins
Clinical Nutrition

Say it with me now: food is medicine! Your nutritional intake is the cornerstone of your health. Based on your symptom deficiencies, health history, and self-reported food diary, I will assess for dietary imbalances, nutritional , and food intolerances. Once I have a clearer picture of your nutritional needs, I’ll create a streamlined arsenal of dietary recommendations to optimize your nutritional intake — don’t worry, we’re going to keep it crave-worthy and delicious!

Bioidentical Hormones | Naturopathic Medicine Timmins
Bioidentical Hormone Therapy

These are not your mother’s hormones! Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy uses hormones scientifically designed to mimic those produced by your own body and they are processed by your body in the same way, smoothing out imbalances and restoring your optimal health in a way that feels gentle and natural. Through bioidentical hormone therapy (if indicated), we will rebalance your hormones, so that you can feel like yourself again.

Lifestyle Counselling | Naturopathic Medicine Timmins
Lifestyle Counselling

Optimal wellness means more than just your physical health — you deserve to feel fantastic body, mind, and spirit. Understanding that mental and emotional states have a deep impact on health, I apply concepts of mind-body connection and counselling skills to address all aspects of your life, tackling everything from stress management tactics to developing healthy lifestyle habits.

Botanical Medicine | Naturopathic Medicine Timmins
Botanical Medicine

Applying my knowledge of pharmacognosy, clinical indications, and toxicology of plants, I create custom botanical formulas designed to address specific symptoms and conditions, and help support the healing process. The use of whole plants rather than isolated compounds allows for a gentler and broader effect. Your personalized formulation may take the form of a tincture (a liquid combination of herbal extracts), custom medicinal teas, or encapsulated herbs.

Nutritional Supplements l Nutrition | Naturopathic Medicine Timmins

Vitamin and mineral deficiencies are the hidden culprit when it comes to many chronic symptoms and conditions. After your detailed initial assessment and nutritional analysis, I’ll prescribe a personalized regimen of natural supplements designed to optimize your biochemical and metabolic processes, help treat any current deficiencies, and prevent future issues.

Acupuncture | Naturopathic Medicine Timmins

Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture uses the insertion of fine needles to promote the smooth flow of Qi in the meridians throughout your body, and the acupuncture points are carefully selected in order to match your diagnosis and meet your unique needs. The needles are typically retained for 15-20 minutes. If you’re scared, don’t worry — the needles are far smaller than you'd expect, and many patients report not even feeling them!

My Process

Dr. Christine Fortier | Women's Hormone Health
  1. Your initial appointment. This appointment will last approximately 75 minutes. We will dive deeply into your concerns, detailed health history, and personal health goals. In order to complete your assessment, I may require previous laboratory tests, recommend that certain tests be performed, or ask you to complete a 3-day food diary for nutritional analysis.

  2. Your second appointment. During this 60-minute appointment, we will dig into any lab results and/or your food diary, and create your personalized health road map together. This is the exciting appointment, where your treatment plan will really begin to take shape! It may include a physical examination. PAP tests and breast exams are also available upon request.

  3. Accountability calls. During these regularly scheduled, 15-minute check-ins, we’ll discuss your progress, results, and challenges.

  4. Tune-up appointments. During these 30-minute appointments, we will monitor your progress, review your bloodwork, determine whether any parts of your program need to be tweaked, and celebrate your wins!

Once we’ve completed your second appointment, follow-up appointments may be done virtually or over the telephone. In-person appointments will be required if I am conducting physical exams or performing physical treatments, of course!
